Learning Objectives for Kick Off the School Year with Confidence: Implementing ReadtopiaGO

In this session, you’ll learn:

  • Embed the five daily cycles of ReadtopiaGO into their classroom schedule for consistent and effective implementation.

  • Group students strategically to maximize instructional impact and support diverse learning needs.


  • Gain 2–3 practical, developmentally appropriate strategies, to increase participation and engage early learners in literacy routines.

This webinar is curated for ReadtopiaGO teachers, SLPs, OTs, and paras involved in literacy instruction for their special education learner(s).  You will leave with knowledge of how to elevate your learners and will be provided with a form to fill out to give you a certificate of completion.

About the Presenter

Jennifer Penzenik M.Ed, LBS1

With over 21 years of experience in the field of special education, Jennifer Penzenik has dedicated her career to empowering young learners, particularly in K–2 settings. She has held various roles, including administrator, instructional coach, and teacher. Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree in special education from Indiana University, an Assistive Technology Certificate from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University. Passionate about early literacy, Jennifer has become particularly focused on teaching at the K–2 grade level. She is committed to fostering school readiness skills, promoting independence through structured settings, and enhancing early literacy skills among young learners. Through her work, she aims to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that nurture a love for reading and learning.

Karen A. Erickson, Ph.D.​

Karen A. Erickson, Ph.D. is Director of the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies at University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill. Her focus is on understanding the best ways to assess and teach reading and writing to children with the most severe disabilities. As a special education teacher, Dr. Erickson has worked to support students with a range of disabilities in a variety of classroom settings, particularly students who do not use speech as their primary means of communication.
